Grand Opening Held for Senior Apartments

Seniors in the Clanton area have a new housing option.

A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was held Thursday at Cobblestone Village, a complex of homes located off Scott Drive, which is off Highway 31 just south of Clanton Walmart.

The complex features 56 apartment units for active seniors at least 55 years old.

One-bedroom units (832 square feet) can be rented for $395 per month, while two-bedroom units (1,051 square feed) can be rented for $465 per month.

Units are rented on 12-month leases.

All units feature walk-in closets, laminate wood flooring, patio porch with storage closet and provided washing machines, dryers, stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers and microwave ovens.

Pets are welcome

Manager Janae Bryant said the first units were leased in mid-December 2015.

“We’ve had a really good response – a lot of traffic and everything, people are coming by,” Bryant said.

Randy Fleece, president of Gateway Management Company, said at the ceremony Thursday that nine of the units have been rented and two more are in the process of being leased.

More than 60 people attended the ceremony, which included prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and several speakers, including Gateway officials, construction project lenders and local leaders, including state Rep. Jimmy Martin and Clanton Mayor Billy Joe Driver.

“We want you to know that we want to welcome you to the city of Clanton,” Driver said.
